Sidekik: an AI receptionist we planned, built and launched.
Sidekik is an AI receptionist and link-in-bio platform built by Grendesign. It answers and transfers calls, chats by text or voice, captures enquiries, books appointments and logs service requests, then puts every conversation in one dashboard. We led the product brief, MVP and product plan, built the application and designed its WordPress website.

The brief
Every enquiry needs a next step. A caller might want an answer, a booking, help with a problem or a person to ring them back. The product had to turn that first conversation into something a business could act on, without a receptionist on the line.
A profile people can talk to
Each business gets a shareable profile with its own handle. It holds the business’s links plus an assistant customers can chat or speak to, with enquiry and booking options. It works as a small public site even for businesses without one.
Product first, then code
One of our experienced product managers shaped the MVP and the product plan. That kept the customer’s needs, the business workflow and the scope of release one in the same conversation, and gave the team a clear order for what came next.
How it’s built
Cloud hosting on AWS with Supabase. Workflow automation runs through n8n. Twilio handles SMS, SendGrid handles email, and OpenAI and ElevenLabs power the voice. We used no-code building tools where they fitted, with engineering review on every part of the build.
What a business can do with it
- Answer and transfer calls, with written summaries
- Chat by text or browser voice on a website or profile
- Capture enquiries through conversation and forms
- Book appointments into supported calendars
- Log service requests and send alerts
- Review conversations, leads and bookings in one dashboard
The AI is only half of it. A business still needs a sensible way to receive, understand and act on each conversation. That’s the part most off-the-shelf tools skip, and it’s what we design first when we build voice agents for larger organisations.
