Whole Medicine • Case study

A welcoming practice brand, carried through every detail.

Grendesign refreshed Whole Medicine’s identity and brought it into a coordinated set of patient-facing and business materials. The work combined a thoughtful logo, practical print design and clear brand guidance to support the practice’s approach to communication.

Refresh the practice identity with a clear sense of purpose.

Whole Medicine approached Grendesign to refresh its practice brand, beginning with the logo. Its positioning brought together traditional medicine and a natural approach, with wellness, prevention and the “be well” message at the centre.

The design needed a natural, clean and welcoming character while still feeling established. We developed the identity with those qualities in mind, then considered how it would work in the practical materials people encounter when communicating with the practice.

Balance tradition, simplicity and a symbol of growth.

The word WHOLE uses a bold serif typeface, while MEDICINE appears in a simple sans serif. A light, hand-drawn-script treatment for the “be well” tagline adds a more personal touch to the combination.

The symbol draws on new growth on a gum tree, connecting the identity with the practice’s message around health and prevention. A soothing green-and-white palette supports the visual direction, with versions that also work against darker backgrounds or imagery.

Make everyday materials part of the same identity.

Appointment and business cards carried the refreshed identity into a useful patient-facing format. One side features the logo against green, while the contact and appointment information sits on a white background, giving the two sides a clear distinction.

The letterhead takes a restrained approach so the information from the practice remains the main focus. The logo and green symbol support that content rather than competing with it. Signage and a postcard-sized flyer extended the same visual language into further practice communications.

Organise information and equip the brand for future use.

The portable information card was designed to carry detail in a small format. Icons and clearly divided sections helped structure that content, balancing the need for useful information with the limits of the space.

A style guide documented the colours, fonts and visual treatment used in the new identity. The project scope also included social media and PowerPoint design, extending the brand direction beyond stationery into other communication formats. Together, these elements gave the practice a coordinated starting point for future materials.

A consistent experience across the practice’s communications.

The work brought the logo, colour palette, cards, letterhead, signage and information design into one coherent visual system. The goal was consistency across the small details, so the practice’s materials carried a shared character wherever they appeared.

Dr Michelle Woodhouse’s feedback described a change in how the branding was received and the way it reflected the clinic. That client perspective sits alongside the tangible design output: a refreshed identity and a practical suite of materials for its communications.

About this project

Which materials were included in the Whole Medicine brand project?

The project covers the identity, appointment and business cards, letterhead, practice signage, a postcard-sized flyer, an information card and a style guide. The wider design scope also included social media and PowerPoint materials.

What inspired the Whole Medicine logo?

The typography balances a bold serif for WHOLE with a simple sans serif for MEDICINE. The symbol is based on new growth on a gum tree, alongside the practice’s “be well” tagline.

Why include a style guide with a practice brand refresh?

A style guide records the colours, type and visual treatment behind the identity. Whole Medicine’s guide provided a consistent reference for future marketing materials and advertising designs.
