design process
At Grendesign, our goal with Record Mania was to build a visual identity that didn’t whisper—it had to shout. This brand was born for collectors, vinyl fanatics, and culture chasers. It had to feel loud, nostalgic, and unmistakably bold.
We kicked things off by diving into record culture, secondhand scenes, and what makes music collectors tick.
- We explored visual language from garage punk, psych rock, and ’70s-era signage.
- We talked tone: energetic, slightly chaotic, definitely not corporate.
- The owner’s passion for records and memorabilia informed the emotional baseline—this wasn’t just a shop, it was a shrine.

logo design
We created the mouth icon as a core brand element—symbolic of volume, energy, and human expression.
Inspired by pop-art styling and hand-drawn gig posters.
Balancing old-school vinyl-store grit with modern colour vibrancy.
Custom typography was developed to reinforce a tactile, analogue vibe—think woodtype press and sticker culture.

Business Card Design
The business card for Record Mania was designed to communicate clarity, boldness, and energy at a glance. The front features a punchy “BUY AND SELL” headline in a dusty pink that ties into the brand’s retro colour palette. Supporting categories – Records, CDs, Collectables – are cleanly listed below, paired with a bold, legible contact block. The use of a QR code adds a digital layer to a traditionally analog audience. On the reverse, the iconic screaming mouth logo reinforces brand recognition, making the card feel both functional and collectible…
Designed to be kept, not tossed.
Signage Design
The sponsor signage was created to be loud, legible, and unmistakably “Record Mania.” Featuring the signature logo and bold typography, the sign immediately tells you what the store does – Buy and Sell Records, CDs, Collectables. The use of contrasting pink and black ensures maximum visibility from a distance, while the layout balances impact with function. The inclusion of a QR code, clear trading hours, and navigational instructions makes it as helpful as it is memorable. The overall vibe feels like a street poster crossed with classic record-store grit.
Perfectly suited to the personality of the brand.

Great Outcomes
Grendesign’s work for Record Mania is not just a visual identity – it’s a vibe. From the loud logo to the tactile print work, every touchpoint reinforces the same core values: collect what you love, share what you find, and never take yourself too seriously.
